Our Exciting Weekend!

Well, we had a fun weekend. On Thursday, Amy and David (my sister and her husband) arrived from Massachusetts. They came down to go to the NASCAR race in Darlington, SC. On Friday, Declan's class had a special thing called "Muffins for Moms". I was escorted by Declan into the classroom where he took me to my table and pulled out my chair for me. Amy came with me and she was escorted by a little boy who's mom is deployed. The kids all got into line, and each brought a muffin to their mom, then punch. While we were eating, we were entertained by the kids singing songs about mothers. It was too cute! Before we left, they gave each of us a marigold plant that they had planted from seeds. OH, the placemats we had were pictures the kids did with their handprint. The hand is the flower which is growing out of a pot and there is a poem on the pot. It was so cute!

After Dec got out of school, we headed down to Florence, SC. We had a campsite reserved at the Florence KOA which is about 10 miles from the racetrack. We ended up getting a pretty good size site which wasn't far from the bathroom. Dec did very good with telling us in plenty of time to get there. Amy and I worked in a little bit of scrapbook time Friday after everything was set up. The first night it was cold. Declan slept with Stephen and I which was good because he stayed warmer. Saturday we relaxed most of the day and headed to the race in the afternoon. We lucked out on the parking because we were at the end of the row, close to the exit. The race was pretty good, but the people behind us were very drunk and very obnoxious. Their language was horrible but it was the subject matter that made Stephen say something to them. After that they calmed down some. Fortunetly, Dec was asleep when they were at their worst and when he was awake he had his little headphone things on and probably couldn't hear much of it. Other than that we had a good time. Dec fell asleep again but he got to see more of the race this time. The best thing, we didn't freeze our buns off like we did at the race in the fall. The weather was PERFECT!

On Sunday we hung around the campground. Most people left first thing in the morning so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Poor Dec hadn't felt good on Saturday because he had a sinus headache, or as he says his "brain hurt". He was better after some ibuprophen and a decongestant so he was fine for the race. Unfortunetly he ended up getting sick Sunday morning. Poor kid. He took a nap for a little while and after cooling off (it was really hot in the tent!) he was doing pretty good. We all went to a place called Mister Mark's Fun Park in Florence. All of us went on the go carts and then Stephen and David went on the "sprint" car go carts. After that, we all played mini golf. We had a pretty good campfire that night and made some smores. Monday we packed up and headed home. Posting these pictures is about all I have the energy to accomplish right now. I may end up posting more once Amy sends me a disc with the pictures she took. I posted these pictures in order from Friday to Sunday.
